Gantt chart from Sam

Information from Katie about the space we are hiring:

Below is the questions that we sent to George at Positive Light Projects:

Fundraising I was involved in:

I designed posters to explain what the stall was for and generated a QR code so that people could use their phones to donate to our charity. The green image is the one that was shared online with the QR code so that people could donate money to the PayPal fund.

Hair & Beauty Show Stall:

Marie and I organised and set up the stall at College's Hair and Beauty Night Fashion Show. Below is the poster for it. The stall contained my artwork prints, Jess's artwork prints, Marie's artwork and plants, Ella's cushions, as well as some artwork the Sally had donated. I pretty much ran the stall on my own because Marie was enjoying running around taking photographs of the fashion show.

Below is my artworks that I printed out to sell on the stall:

Rugby Club Auction Night:

My job was to help set up the space and prizes, run the table where we were selling raffle tickets and taking money in cash and on the card machine, and tell people when they had won a prize, which they could choose, basically not the auction items. I also helped to clear up at the end of the night. I don't think I had a chance to take pictures of that night, as I cant find any.

Bruce's fundraising:

Bruce donated a hand crafted pot for us to auction to raise money, which was very kind of him. We also had a lot of other things donated for an online auction. We had everything planned and went live but the QR code had expired so people could not donate properly so we decided to drop it in the end.

Up on the screens in college:

Private viewing invitation:

Below is the poster I designed to advertise the exhibition around the area. I had to change it to landscape for Kyle in printing so that we could have it up advertising on the screens at college. Part of my job was to get the posters printed out at A0 size to go in Positive Light Projects window for two weeks before the exhibition, as well as 2x A1 for the board on wheels at the exhibition space to put outside when we were open. I also got lots of A4 size prints as well, so that Katie could put some up around Exeter, in RAMM and the Phoenix.

I put up our exhibition poster around Cockington in the little shops at the back, and the Cockington poster board inside the house:

I was the treasurer for the project. I set up an email address for us (below), and a PayPal account to link to that email. The account was linked to my bank account to verify it.

I ordered a business card to go with the PayPal account so that we could buy things last minute as we needed them.

My job was to keep track of our incomings and outgoings from the fundraising and expenses from setting up the exhibition. We were very lucky that college actually paid for our space to exhibit in the end, as that was expensive. So we only needed to raise enough for tools to set up and food and drink.

Below is the PayPal.me link:

We have made a website, that was made by Ella, which introduces each of us and has a sneak peek of our artwork. Katie has set up the social media on Instagram for us to advertise and again give sneak peeks of our work.

Susan, as the project manager, needed to know what we were going to be exhibiting so that we could check we had everything we needed to hang our art in the space. Susan is making a list of what's needed for the install to make sure everyone has everything they need, including tools.

We needed to plan out when everyone was going to man the space, becuase we needed at least two people on at all times. This is the schedule we decided on:

Wednesday: Marie, Sam and Jess

Thursday: Me, Susan, Ella and Katie

The Matt burrow group talk transcript and my one to one transcript are on separate blog posts.

I bought 7 16x12 inch frames in plain white from The Range to put my animal prints into on the wall. We used pins to hang the frames, but my frames were thin so I had to double sided foam tape the bottoms of the frames to hold them in place.

This is my seamless repeat Hero pattern from my collection, which I printed on 3m of fabric from Contrado. I used Janice Poplin Organic Cotton Fabric at 135gsm weight as my fabric.

My information for the social media and website:

About Me: Emilie Collings

I am finishing my Foundation Degree in Creative Digital Design. I am Surface Pattern Designer and Illustrator. I like to focus on textile design and have sold exclusive pattern designs through my Instagram page. I also enjoy children’s illustration, being a mum myself. I am currently writing and illustrating a children’s book for my final project. I am going to University Arts Plymouth next year to do a third year and make it into a BA Hons in Illustration.

Project Name: Scandi Folk Animal Collection

Description:

My project for the exhibition is a collection of patterns, which were designed for fabric and upholstery, but are transferable and can be applied to almost anything you like. The projects focus was Scandinavian folk art style, using Scandinavian animals and flower shapes, and one muted colour palette to link the whole collection. My hero pattern is printed onto fabric from the ceiling to the floor, with the animals and supporting patterns in frames on the wall.

My Roles at the Exhibition:

Checklist & details for Monday 13th for the van loading:

We also had a brochure made up with the titles and information for each art piece that people could pick up on the way in:

I attended college to help load up the van and ensure that we had everything on the checklist, and had not forgotten anybody's work. Sam drove the van up to Exeter and then we unloaded the van into Positive Light Projects (in the rain).

I had a mood board with ideas of planning how I was going to display my work in the space. I showed this to George the space manager when I got there as a client pitch.

Below is the planning sheets we all filled out to make sure we had all of the information we needed at hand.

I decided to go with 2, 3, 2 formation for my A3 prints in frames on the wall. I used ceiling hooks with fishing wire attached to bulldog clips to hang my fabric from the ceiling. I placed the ceiling clips not in a straight line deliberately so that there would be movement in the fabric, and it draped like it was a curtain.

I helped Marie with preparing the food for the private viewing. My first task was to wash all of the glasses, plates and cutlery (which was a lot).

Marie and I had to do 3 trips to supermarkets, so that we could find and carry the things we needed for the evening. As the treasurer I paid for all of the food and drink.

I helped Marie to set up the tables with table cloths, extension leads that reached, the alcohol and helped her lay out the food. I also helped wash up what I could at the end of the night.

On the Thursday I spend the whole day 10am-5pm manning the space, as we needed at least two of us on site to be able to open. We had quite a few people come through and ask us about the pieces of art.

When the day had finished we decided to take down as much stuff as possible to make it easier for the Friday when there would be less people to help. I was willing to come and help take down on the Friday, but it was not needed in the end, Susan just needed to hand the keys back.

We took our own work back home with us, as well as anybody's who was carriable, so it was only Marie's big pieces of artwork, and the Macs and the big TV for Sam to collect in the van on Monday.
